Wolfson Family Laboratory for Clinical and Biomedical Optics Team
The Wolfson Family Lab collaborates with diverse disciplines to investigate the use of noninvasive optical technology for monitoring cerebral hemodynamics, and we ultimately aim to bring our research to bedside management. Our team values communication, teamwork, and curiosity for scientific discovery and is always open to innovative ideas that can improve a patient’s quality of life.
The Wolfson Family Laboratory receives generous support from the Wolfson family. Their philanthropy creates a translational impact that has a multiplier effect, allowing the lab to gain more funding support and continue to make discoveries that improve neurological outcomes of critically ill infants and children. With the help of their charitable contributions, Dr. Licht began developing a unique bedside optical instrumentation that uses near-infrared light for noninvasive neuromonitoring of patients during critical interventions.

Wesley B. Baker, PhD
Director, Biomedical Optical Devices to Monitor Cerebral Health Frontier Program
Dr. Baker is a physicist with specialization in optics in biological tissues whose research in biomedical optics aims to develop and translate optical tools for clinical use. He also studies the interplay between the delivery of pediatric critical care and the patient’s long-term brain health.
