The Outreach Programs tier of the Office of Academic Training and Outreach Programs (ATOP) is leading the way in the delivery of research-centric programs that produce leaders in pediatric healthcare. Outreach Programs offers flagship student internships such as the CHOP Research Internship for Scholars and Emerging Scientists (CHOP-RISES) for high school students, the CHOP Research Institute Summer Scholars Programs (CRISSP) for undergraduates and the Advancing Representation in Research Administration (ARRA) Program for undergraduates and recent graduates.  In addition, we host events throughout the year at CHOP and in the local community that showcase research and medicine. Our most recent endeavor, Discovery Day is a day-long celebration of science for local high school students held annually at CHOP. Our programming is designed to demonstrate the relevance of science in our daily lives and showcase the breadth of STEM-M careers at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The Office of Outreach Programs also offers programming to support students at all levels who are on campus over the summer. All students at CHOP are invited to attend the Summer Scientific Research Colloquium, a series of informal career talks from leaders across multiple disciplines. The entire research community is invited to share in the celebration of our summer students at CHOP Research Student Graduation and Poster Day held each August. View a list of the 2024 summer scholars.

We welcome opportunities to partner with our colleagues and external collaborators to continue to build a community that celebrates research. Faculty and research teams hosting our students play an essential role in providing the training and mentorship required for a successful experience at CHOP. Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is committed to supporting as many pathways to careers in science, technology, education, math and medicine (STEM-M) as possible. The Research Institute hosts several internship, training, and outreach programs that provide opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds to explore diverse and rewarding scientific careers.
