The Office of Academic Training and Outreach Programs (ATOP) supports the next generation of pediatric researchers with engaging education and training experiences that promote innovation and scientific breakthroughs across the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia research community. ATOP consists of three tiers of service: Academic Training, Outreach Programs, and Specialty Programs and Diversity.

Academic Training provides development opportunities, supports researchers-in-training across the spectrum of the scientific career ladder, and serves as the office of postdoctoral affairs. Outreach Programs creates internships, events, and career exposure opportunities for students and community partners to develop future generations of leaders in child health. Specialty Programs and Diversity builds and supports a diverse research workforce and implements discipline-specific research programs in scientific areas outlined in the CHOP Research Institute Strategic Plan.
