The Center for Outcomes REsearch in Surgery (CORES) strengthens patient-centered outcomes research for children with surgical conditions by generating new knowledge and then applying that knowledge back into clinical care through the Department of Surgery at CHOP.

CORES establishes an infrastructure to support a wide breadth of clinical investigation including clinical trials, comparative effectiveness research, and implementation science. CORES facilitates collaboration with existing Centers, such as Clinical Futures, a CHOP Research Institute Center of Emphasis, the Department of Surgery, and ongoing initiatives at CHOP such as the Birth Defects Biorepository that are aligned with CORES’ mission and objectives. These partnerships enable the program to scale rapidly, increasing its impact and improving its value.

CORES provides support for data analysts, biostatisticians, epidemiologists, and research support staff. It also allows the project team to access databases for research purposes and provides research training and mentorship. In addition, CORES offers grant writing support, as well as pilot grants to generate preliminary data needed to obtain extramural funding.

Submit a CORES Intake Form, to facilitate your research project needs.
