About the Chan Laboratory
The Chan Lab is committed to ending all preventable child deaths worldwide. We conduct rigorous epidemiologic, clinical, and public health science to answer basic questions on the etiologies of child mortality to better design interventions and strategies to improve survival.
We recognize the global relevance of our research and are committed to fostering equity and ethical practices within our lab, and in collaboration with communities around the world. Our longstanding collaborations with scientists in regions with some of the highest child mortality and morbidity rates keep us and our science grounded in the needs of the communities we strive to serve.
Child mortality disproportionately affects low-resource communities, where poverty further intensifies the vulnerability to death. Our research group is dedicated to advancing health and equity globally and within our own communities. We welcome individuals who share this commitment, fostering an inclusive environment free from any form of discrimination. We value and encourage team members to engage in activities outside of their research, including advocacy, outreach, volunteering, and mentorship, drawing strength and recognizing the power of a diverse team working together.
