Two abstracts from the lab were presented by Jonathan Mitchell, PhD, on behalf of postdoctoral fellow Jessica Decker at the 2023 American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR).
In the first study, data from the Health Outcomes and Measures of the Environment (HOME) Study were leveraged to determine if sleep duration and timing associated with bone density in childhood, but no evidence of such associations were observed.
In the second study, data from CHOP’s Center for Applied Genomics was used to determine if a polygenetic risk score called “gSOS” associated with fractures in childhood; a higher gSOS score was associated with reduced odds of fracture and this may be a genetic tool that has clinical utility.
