Edwards Laboratory for Pediatric Heart Failure
The overarching goal of the Edwards Lab is to unravel the molecular underpinnings of adaptive and pathologic right ventricular remodeling towards identifying novel right ventricular failure (RVF) therapeutic targets. Pediatric heart failure is increasingly a disease of RVF for which there are no proven therapies. While adaptive remodeling can maintain RV function, RVF occurs as a result of pathologic remodeling.
We integrate human biospecimen multi-omic discovery with preclinical cell and animal models for mechanistic interrogation. In this way, our work transcends diverse modalities and molecular pathways towards a unifying theme of RVF biology.
