The Cell Pathology Division, under the Experimental Pathology Branch of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, investigates and defines the cell biological basis of disease to complement the vast genomic expertise at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. To fulfill this goal, laboratories in the Division have advanced microscopes to image live cells and tissues, and they work closely with the Research Institute’s Protein and Flow Cytometry cores.

Current research projects in the Division include molecular studies on normal targeting or proteins to lysomsome-like compartment and its variation in disease models, investigations of actin dynamics with the membrane of lymphocytes as they are activated by antigens, the response to pathological and physiological forms of endoplasmic reticulum, and the pathogenic factors in the development of bone and soft tissue tumors.
