Open Medical Institute (OMI) MEX is a joint initiative between the OMI and Alianza Médica para la Salud (AMSA), in which OMI faculty who teach pro bono in Salzburg also travel to Mexico City and Oaxaca to train physicians in various specialties. The OMI MEX seminars are based on the established OMI curricula and offer a condensed three-day program that includes didactic lectures, fellows' case presentations, and interactive workshops.

From May 29 to May 31, 2023, Sansanee Craig, MD, co-founder of CHOP Global Health Informatics, facilitated lectures and workshops on Health Informatics with OMI MEX. CHOP's Bimal Desai, MD, Robert Grundmeier, MD, and Eli Lourie, MD, MBI joined Dr. Craig. The workshops focused on important aspects such as workforce development, digital health readiness assessments, ethical considerations in private security, clinical decision support (CDS), and an overview of electronic health records.

OMI is an international initiative for medical professionals which aims to improve healthcare on a global scale through education and research. To find out more about OMI and its initiatives, please visit their official website.
