Bio

Dr. Gaw's research is primarily focused on the epidemiology and prevention of pediatric injuries and poisonings.

Dr. Gaw has a broad background in the field of injury prevention and has worked with several research groups to study topics including head traumas, unintentional poisonings, sports and consumer product-related injuries, and perceptions toward injury prevention counseling. He has significant experience leveraging large, administrative databases to better characterize injury and poisoning hazards to children with the goal of informing education, advocacy, and policy initiatives. His research also has utilized survey science and qualitative methods to understand provider views toward injury control. Dr. Gaw is actively involved in research at both the Center for Injury Research and Prevention and CHOP's Poison Control Center.

In addition to his injury prevention research, Dr. Gaw has academic interests in bioethics and medical education and has studied and authored works on medical trainee wellness, shared decision-making, and end-of-life care.
