Dr. Li investigates the quantitative behaviors of the adaptive immune system using computational, genomics and machine learning approaches. His current research focuses on the following areas:

• Using the blood T cell receptor repertoire as a novel biomarker to detect early-stage cancer and other immunological conditions
• How and which cancer cells 'hijack' mitochondria from nearby T cells in vivo
• Using articifical intelligence-models to identify tumor-associated antibody sequences from large human genomics sequencing data.
