About the Presentation

Clinical Data Interoperability Services (CDIS)

The Clinical Data Interoperability Services (CDIS) feature available within CHOP's Research Institute REDCap instance provides easy-to-use data pulls for some clinical data from EPIC to REDCap. CDIS projects allow REDCap users to pull EPIC data from the following areas:

• Problem list
• Demographics (e.g., name, date of birth)
• Immunization list
• Allergy list
• Laboratory (e.g., WBC, hematocrit, A1c)
• Medication lists
• Vital Signs (e.g., body weight, blood pressure)
• Appointments & encounters

CDIS is a useful tool to bring EHR data directly into a REDCap project, decreasing the need for data to be manually transcribed, copied and pasted, or uploaded as a flat file into REDCap.

Investigators and research staff who are planning a study that requires data from the EHR are encouraged to attend.
