The Center for Precision Diagnosis and Therapy for Pediatric Motility Disorders will expand on the outstanding clinical reputation of the Suzi and Scott Lustgarten Motility Center to position CHOP as the top research institution for treating and curing gastrointestinal (GI) motility disorders.

In children with GI motility disorders, the esophagus, stomach, or intestines don't function normally. These disorders are quite common in children and can severely impact their quality of life, causing significant stress and embarrassment and putting them at risk for malnutrition. Despite the high prevalence of GI motility disorders in the pediatric population, there are only a few centers in the world that can address the complex needs of children with severe motility diseases.

This Frontier Program will seek to expand the clinical pathways, translate precision diagnostics to the clinic by developing novel therapies and treatment strategies, and ultimately improve outcomes for these patients.
