Research study staff: Remember to sign your REDCap e-consents
Many e-consent projects require staff signatures. Some require staff to open the consent form after the participant has signed, edit the survey, and add their own name and signature. Others may have a separate form for staff to fill in.
Regardless of your setup, electronic consents should be treated just like paper consents. The signing staff member should sign as soon as possible after the participant has signed. This completes the execution of the consent form.
Keep in mind that all actions in REDCap are time-logged. During an audit, monitors will check for your signature. It's easy to see when a signature was added, both in the filename of the signature itself, and in the History of each individual field (the circled H next to each field):
