Quality qualitative research requires early consideration of research design and methods, study populations, data collection procedures, frameworks, and analysis.

The Qualitative Research Core (QRC) team can assist researchers best when they contact us as early as possible in the research process. We are eager to consult prior to grant submission and as researchers start designing projects. To ensure the highest-quality research, we may not be able to provide services to projects that have advanced beyond data collection without prior consultation. Advanced stage projects will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may require a data review prior to consultation.

If you are interested in partnering with the QRC, please fill out the support request form to share more about your research project and the services you require. The more information you provide in advance, the more we can provide personalized project-specific guidance.

We will contact you within two business days about your project request.

Please note that submitting the form does not guarantee that we will partner with you on your research. We reserve the right to review and approve all project partnerships based on our staff capacity and proposed project’s alignment with our mission and content expertise.

The QRC hosts weekly virtual office hours every Wednesday from 10-11:30 am via Microsoft Teams. Office hours can be used for quick consultations or questions on research design, data collection, and data analysis, as well as to determine if filling out a support request form for further consultation is an appropriate step for your project.

Consultations are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please contact QRC Core Director Katie Kellom at kellomk@chop.edu to schedule.

Yes. We are happy to consult on projects that are in the process of applying for grant funding. We are eager to consult with you prior to grant submission and early in the research design process.

We use a full-time equivalent (FTE) staffing model so any team that needs ongoing project support or consultation will pay for specific core team members' time according to the agreed upon scope of work. We will discuss these considerations during scope development and hold standing meetings to revisit whether FTE support needs to be adjusted based on how the project unfolds. Individual and team-based trainings, whether delivered as a stand-alone service or as part of a larger scope of work, will be billed separately.

Currently, all QRC projects must have a CHOP investigator; however, we are happy to support CHOP-affiliated projects that have additional outside research partners, including other academic, community, or public partnerships.

Authorship and Acknowledgments

All projects that utilize the QRC should acknowledge their partnership. Specific authorship and credit will be discussed at the onset of a partnership and is unique to each project and each written product.
