The IDS will continue to monitor supply inventory and maintain the study (as well as replace expiring supplies if procured by IDS) until the IDS receives a notification that pharmacy involvement for accountability and storage is no longer required AND remaining IP supplies have been either destroyed or returned to the supplier. It is very important to schedule a closeout visit in the IDS when your trial no longer requires IDS involvement so that the IDS can prepare records for review by the monitor and eventual return to the study team. Prompt study closure practices help to avoid costly maintenance fees and/or supply charges since it may not always be possible to return supplies for full or partial credit.
