John M. Maris, MD
John M. Maris

Dr. Maris investigates the molecular and genetic mechanisms contributing to the development and progression of neuroblastoma, a common childhood cancer. He also aims to develop new molecular diagnostic tests and less toxic, targeted therapies to treat relapsed or refractory neuroblastoma, including a major effort in immunotherapy discovery and development.

Evan Weber, PhD
Evan W. Weber

Dr. Weber is developing approaches to enhance CAR-T cell therapies for pediatric cancer by reprogramming T cells with improved durability and exhaustion resistance. His work will uncover molecular mechanisms that promote CAR-T cell exhaustion and identify new targets for therapeutic intervention.

Stephen P. Hunger, MD
Stephen P. Hunger

Dr. Hunger's focuses his research on molecular and genomic approaches to identify and clinically evaluate targeted cancer treatments for children with relapsed or high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) such as Philadelphia chromosome-like (Ph-Like) ALL. The long-term goal of Dr. Hunger’s research is to develop better therapies, improve cure rates, and minimize treatment toxicities for children with ALL.

Theodore Laetsch, MD
Theodore W. Laetsch

Dr. Laetsch is a pediatric oncologist who provides clinical care and conducts research with the overarching goal of improving treatment options for children with difficult to treat cancers.

E-mail:
laetscht [at] chop.edu
Elizabeth J.K. Bhoj, MD PhD
Elizabeth J.K. Bhoj

Dr. Bhoj's genetics research aims to discover new human disease genes, their mechanisms, and potential targeted therapies. In addition to ongoing gene discovery efforts, Dr. Bhoj focuses on three novel genes that lead to pediatric neurologic dysfunction: TBC1 domain-containing kinase, Histone 3.3 (H3F3A and H3F3B), and MAP4K4.

E-mail:
bhoje [at] chop.edu
Jennifer Pogoriler, MD, PhD
Jennifer Pogoriler

Dr. Pogoriler's research focuses on pediatric lung disease and neoplasia. These interests come together in her work on congenital cystic lung lesions and their potential premalignant diagnosis. She collaborates with both clinicians and basic scientists on pediatric cancer research.

Kristopher R. Bosse, MD
Photo of Kristopher R. Bosse

The cure rate for children with neuroblastoma is unacceptable, making it imperative that new therapies are developed. Dr. Bosse's laboratory is focused on discovering and developing new neuroblastoma cell surface immunotherapeutic targets. Along with his colleagues, Dr. Bosse's aim is to capitalize on the robust differential expression of these molecules with immune-based therapies and also define their mechanisms of overexpression and roles in tumorigenesis.

E-mail:

Stephan A. Grupp, MD, PhD
Stephan A. Grupp

Dr. Grupp develops and conducts preclinical testing of engineered cell therapies and signal transduction inhibitors in leukemia, in pediatric immunotherapy trials, and in the manufacture and use of cellular therapeutics in preclinical, good manufacturing practices, and clinical trial settings. Dr. Grupp leads most CTL019 (CD19 CAR) clinical trials, and his colleagues are the global leaders in highly active CAR T cell therapy.

Daniel P. Kelly, MD
Daniel P. Kelly

Dr. Kelly’s research career began with deciphering the genetic basis of inborn errors in metabolism in children, followed by a series of breakthrough discoveries relevant to the diagnosis and treatment of common forms of heart failure in the general population.

E-mail:

Sarah K. Tasian, MD
Sarah K. Tasian

Dr. Tasian's research centers on the bench-to-bedside investigation of precision medicine therapies for high-risk childhood leukemias.
