Dr. De Leon-Crutchlow’s translational research program focuses on examining the pathophysiology of disorders of insulin regulation, identifying novel therapeutic targets, and developing new therapies for these conditions. The program approach includes patient-oriented research and bench research employing mouse models and primary islet cultures.
Dr. Tsui's research interests include clinical informatics, natural language processing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, population informatics, data science, signal processing, mobile healthcare, and large real-time clinical production systems. He's published over 100 peer-reviewed papers.
Dr. Sengupta is a neonatologist and physician scientist with a long-standing interest in lung health. She studies the mechanisms of circadian regulation of lung inflammation, injury, and repair; and the effect of early life exposures on development and function of pulmonary circadian networks in adulthood.
Dr. Hartung's clinical and translational research program focuses on autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease and other genetic kidney diseases, development of new kidney and liver imaging biomarkers, and neurocognitive outcomes in children with chronic kidney disease.
Dr. Roberts investigates brain-wave scanning with magnetoencephalography (MEG) and works to identify biomarkers for neuropsychiatric disorders like autism. Those biomarkers are for diagnosis, prognosis, stratification, and response monitoring as well as substrate identification for targeted therapy. Putting the "bio" into biomarkers is a major emphasis of Dr. Roberts' research, for which he uses advanced diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and edited spectroscopy.
Dr. Maris investigates the molecular and genetic mechanisms contributing to the development and progression of neuroblastoma, a common childhood cancer. He also aims to develop new molecular diagnostic tests and less toxic, targeted therapies to treat relapsed or refractory neuroblastoma, including a major effort in immunotherapy discovery and development.
