Adda Grimberg, MD
Adda Grimberg

Dr. Grimberg investigates the growth hormone (GH)/insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-I axis and clinical issues related to child growth. Her recent research is focused on disparities in, and the decision-making related to, the medical management of children with short stature. She is fascinated by how differential societal pressures for tallness and the advent of an expensive therapeutic have transformed a fundamental aspect of pediatric healthcare.

Babette S. Zemel, PhD
Babette S. Zemel

Dr. Zemel's overall research program aims to improve the understanding of lifelong health and how it relates to childhood antecedents of physical growth and maturation, body composition, population ancestry/genetics, and lifestyle factors. Such insight has practical implications for disease prevention and lifelong wellness, as well as broader scientific implications for understanding human plasticity and evolution.

Sara E. Pinney, MD, MS
Sara E. Pinney

Dr. Pinney investigates the molecular mechanisms that link an adverse intrauterine milieu to the development of diabetes and obesity later in life. Specifically, she is researching how intrauterine growth restriction, gestational diabetes and in utero exposure to environmental toxicants contribute to the development of diabetes and obesity in offspring.

Jacquelyn Anne Hatch-Stein, MD
Jacquelyn Anne Hatch-Stein

Dr. Hatch-Stein's research interests include diabetes, thyroid disorders, and disorders of growth and puberty. Recent clinical research projects include "Bone Health and Cardiovascular Risk in Turner Syndrome" and "Patterns of Height Velocity in Down Syndrome."

Eiki Koyama, DDS, PhD
Eiki Koyama, DDS, PhD

Dr. Koyama's research focuses on Hereditary Multiple Exostoses (HME), a genetic disorder that causes the development of multiple benign tumors on the surface of the metaphyses of long bones. Based on his extensive knowledge of the normal processes of skeletal development and growth, Dr. Koyama's research aims to clarify the molecular mechanisms of HME formation and growth.

Maurizio Pacifici, PhD
Maurizio Pacifici

Dr. Pacifici's biomedical research spans three decades and has explored mechanisms of skeletal development and growth in fetal and postnatal life. Specifically, his focus has been on identifying the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate the differentiation of progenitor cells and permit assembly of distinct skeletal structures, and on aberrations of these mechanisms in pediatric skeletal disorders.

Jonathan A. Mitchell, PhD
Jonathan A. Mitchell

The overarching goal of my research is to help prevent chronic diseases in later life, by focusing on energetic behaviors (sleep, diet, and physical activity) and their impact on body composition during growth and development.

Sogol Mostoufi-Moab, MD, MSCE
Sogol Mostoufi-Moab Headshot

Dr. Mostoufi-Moab's clinical and research program is focused on endocrine late effects after childhood cancer therapy. She has unique dual training in pediatric endocrinology and oncology with a master's degree in clinical epidemiology. The goal of her research program is to pursue a mechanistic understanding of metabolic and endocrine disorders that occur due to cancer therapy.

Joseph P. Zackular, PhD
Joseph P. Zackular

Dr. Zackular's research is focused on understanding how interactions between the host, gut microbiota, and pathogenic microbes impact human health and disease. His recent efforts center on understanding how the important nosocomial pathogen, Clostridium difficile, interacts with resident gut microbiota during infection and how interspecies cross-talk impacts growth, behavior, and virulence of this pathogen.

Lorraine L. Katz, MD
Lorraine L. Katz

Dr. Katz’s investigates the sequelae of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus in youth. Her research involves the intersection of sleep, obesity, and glucose intolerance and prevention of cardiovascular risk. Her studies have led to the evaluation of quantitative tools important for assessment of metabolic risk in youth.
