Vijay Srinivasan, MBBS, MD, works in research and quality improvement programs dealing with critical illness endocrinopathies and nutrition to improve outcomes in critically ill children. His research focuses on stress hyperglycemia with tight glycemic control and nutrition therapy.
As director of the Center for Clinical Pharmacology, Dr. Zuppa has a dynamic research program that focuses on using clinical pharmacological modeling and simulation strategies to study the impact of critical illness on drug disposition in children.
The research interests of Dr. Downes focus on antimicrobial clinical pharmacology and pharmacoepidemiology in children with a goal to identify novel approaches to optimize efficacy, minimize toxicity, and limit antimicrobial resistance from antibiotics.
Dr. Berg is a resuscitation scientist with extensive clinical and preclinical translational laboratory experience in the areas of cardiac arrest, VF, defibrillation, and personalized physiologic-directed CPR. He has substantial expertise in conducting multicenter observational and interventional trials.
Dr. Loomes' research is focused on clinical and translational studies in pediatric liver disease. She works with National Institutes of Health-funded national consortia to conduct studies investigating the etiology and treatment for rare pediatric liver diseases including biliary atresia, Alagille syndrome, and others. Dr. Loomes also collaborates with other investigators at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to investigate genetic causes of pediatric liver disease.
Dr. Worthen's research program focuses on the mechanisms of acute inflammation in the lung. For more than 30 years he has worked to develop concepts, tools, and approaches to understand how neutrophils are mobilized from the bone marrow, retained within pulmonary capillaries, and migrate into the lung parenchyma and airspaces.
Dr. Ichord participates in multiple research projects within Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and in collaboration with other stroke investigators. Dr. Ichord is especially interested in better understanding the effect of stroke on complex brain function, such as thinking and learning, and developing new strategies to promote recovery and rehabilitation.
Dr. DeMauro has special expertise in rigorous assessment of early childhood outcomes of high-risk neonates. Her research focuses on improving outcomes of children with bronchopulmonary dysplasia and school-age assessment of functional outcomes in preterm-born children.
Dr. Curley's research focuses on nurse-implemented interventions in pediatric critical care. Over several decades, her studies have illuminated relationship-based care when partnering with parents of critically ill children, supported parent presence during invasive procedures and resuscitation, and have informed the practice of caring for critically-ill pediatric patients with acute respiratory failure.
