Benjamin L. Laskin, MD, MS
Benjamin L. Laskin

Dr. Laskin's research focuses on the conduct of clinical investigations and translational studies designed to target mechanisms to prevent, treat, or slow the progression of chronic kidney disease in immunosuppressed patients, including children receiving a bone marrow or kidney transplant.

Alix E. Seif, MD, MPH
Alix E. Seif

Dr. Seif's research centers on manipulating the human innate and immune systems to treat children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The long-term goal of her research is to identify innate and adaptive immune mechanisms that can be used to treat pediatric ALL more effectively, and with less toxicity, than existing therapies.

David M. Barrett, MD, PhD
David M. Barrett

Dr. Barret's research program focuses on immune function of children with cancer. His research involves investigating possible immune deficiencies that result in children developing cancer and developing immune-based therapies for childhood cancer.

Steven Joffe, MD, MPH
Steven Joffe

Dr. Joffe's research addresses three areas. First, he studies leadership in biomedical science, including governance within learning healthcare systems and the role of the principal investigator in multicenter trials. Second, he studies the ethical questions raised by genomic sequencing in medicine and science. Finally, he studies the ethics of human subjects research, including informed consent and clinical research design.

Timothy S. Olson, MD, PhD
Timothy S. Olson Headshot

Dr. Olson aims to improve diagnostics and treatment of bone marrow failure (BMF) syndromes, and to improve clinical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) outcomes. He conducts clinical trials of HSCT for non-malignant hematologic diseases. His laboratory explores both basic and translational research focused on genomics of BMF and the impact of BMF on hematopoietic niche function during HSCT.

William H. Peranteau, MD
William H. Peranteau

Dr. Peranteau is an attending surgeon in the Division of Pediatric General, Thoracic and Fetal Surgery and an associate professor of Surgery at CHOP. His research interest is in fetal development as it relates to the potential understanding of and fetal intervention for congenital anomalies.

E-mail:
peranteauw [at] chop.edu
Nancy J. Bunin, MD

Dr. Bunin's current research focuses on the development of hematopoietic stem cell graft engineering for allogeneic transplantation to minimize graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), promote engraftment and immune reconstitution. She has also developed protocols for rapid manufacture of viral cytotoxic T lymphocytes to treat or prevent life threatening viral infections post hematopoietic stem cell transplant.

Stephan A. Grupp, MD, PhD
Stephan A. Grupp

Dr. Grupp develops and conducts preclinical testing of engineered cell therapies and signal transduction inhibitors in leukemia, in pediatric immunotherapy trials, and in the manufacture and use of cellular therapeutics in preclinical, good manufacturing practices, and clinical trial settings. Dr. Grupp leads most CTL019 (CD19 CAR) clinical trials, and his colleagues are the global leaders in highly active CAR T cell therapy.

Sogol Mostoufi-Moab, MD, MSCE
Sogol Mostoufi-Moab Headshot

Dr. Mostoufi-Moab's clinical and research program is focused on endocrine late effects after childhood cancer therapy. She has unique dual training in pediatric endocrinology and oncology with a master's degree in clinical epidemiology. The goal of her research program is to pursue a mechanistic understanding of metabolic and endocrine disorders that occur due to cancer therapy.

E-mail:
moab [at] chop.edu
Caitlin Elgarten, MD, MSCE
Caitlin Elgarten

Dr. Caitlin Elgarten is an attending physician with the Cancer Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and an assistant professor of Pediatrics in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on pediatric hematology-oncology.
