Stefano Rivella, PhD
Stefano Rivella

Dr. Rivella is an expert in the pathophysiology of erythroid and iron disorders and in the generation of lentiviral vectors for the cure of hemoglobinopathies. He also investigates additional disorders such as anemia of inflammation and hemochromatosis.

Peter Kurre, MD
Peter Kurre

Dr. Kurre's laboratory has longstanding expertise in Fanconi Anemia (FA), a genetic condition with prominent hematologic complications. With training in transplantation and hematopoietic stem cell biology, he hopes to improve the understanding of the progressive hematopoietic failure in patients with bone marrow failure and FA, broaden diagnostic approaches, and develop next generation therapies.

E-mail:
kurrep [at] chop.edu
Stella T. Chou, MD
Stella T. Chou, MD

Dr. Chou focuses on regenerative blood cellular therapy, the mechanisms of normal human hematopoietic development, and the pathophysiology of pediatric hematologic diseases.

E-mail:
chous [at] chop.edu
Elizabeth Lowenthal, MD, MSCE
Elizabeth Lowenthal Headshot

Dr. Lowenthal's work is focused on addressing health priorities for children in resource-limited settings. In addition to research projects she serves as research director for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Global Health Center, supporting junior researchers (and senior researchers newly working in international settings) to develop projects addressing other health priorities for children in resource-limited settings.

E-mail:
lowenthale [at] chop.edu
Gerd Blobel, MD, PhD
Gerd Blobel

Dr. Blobel investigates the fundamental mechanisms involving transcription factors, chromatin regulators, and higher order chromatin. He is gearing his basic science discoveries towards genetic and epigenetic treatment modalities. In addition, Dr. Blobel is interested in mechanism of epigenetic memory.

Wei Tong, PhD
Wei Tong

Dr. Tong investigates cytokine receptor signaling in normal and neoplastic hematopoietic development. She uses integrated approaches encompassing biochemistry, molecular biology, mouse models, and primary human samples to understand signaling events emanating from cytokine receptors that regulate the development of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells.

E-mail:
tongw [at] chop.edu
Julia T. Warren, MD, PhD
Julia T. Warren

Dr. Warren studies normal and aberrant hematopoiesis, with a special interest in granulopoiesis. Her research aims to understand the pathogenesis of severe congenital neutropenia and its risk for malignant transformation. She has a clinical interest in neutropenia syndromes including clinical trials.

E-mail:

Timothy S. Olson, MD, PhD
Timothy S. Olson Headshot

Dr. Olson aims to improve diagnostics and treatment of bone marrow failure (BMF) syndromes, and to improve clinical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) outcomes. He conducts clinical trials of HSCT for non-malignant hematologic diseases. His laboratory explores both basic and translational research focused on genomics of BMF and the impact of BMF on hematopoietic niche function during HSCT.

Linah Omer
Linah Omer

Linah Omer is a hematology-oncology fellow whose work is focused on understanding nanoparticle applications and their role in treatment of Fanconi anemia.

E-mail:
omerl1 [at] chop.edu
Omar A. Banda, PhD
Omar A. Banda

Omar Banda investigates therapeutic applications of novel nanoparticle delivery systems for the treatment of Fanconi Anemia.
