Dr. Chan’s research aims to advance the health of children globally by designing, testing, and scaling interventions.
Bio
Dr. Chan is a physician-scientist with expertise in epidemiology and public health. Her research aims to improve child health by using epidemiologic methods to discover and deliver evidence-based interventions. She is motivated by the need to reduce child morbidity and mortality in settings where populations have the highest burden of disease yet the least data, research, and programs. Her work focuses on surveillance of child morbidity and mortality to improve disease estimates, risk prediction for preterm birth and antenatal care attendance, maternal and neonatal infections and antimicrobial resistance, and development and testing of interventions to improve birth outcomes, survival, and well-being of infants and children. She has partnered with community-based organizations, government agencies, and the World Health Organization to discover and deliver cost-effective interventions for vulnerable populations.
