Garrett Keim
Attending Physician

Dr. Keim aims to improve the care of children with acute respiratory failure leading to reductions in both mortality and post-discharge morbidity in survivors. Additionally, he utilizes novel imaging modalities to further understand respiratory physiology during mechanical ventilation.

Bio

Dr. Keim’s research focuses on understanding the short- and long-term morbidity experienced by survivors of mechanical ventilation and pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome.

He is interested in further understanding the heterogeneity of respiratory physiology during acute illness utilizing non-ionizing bedside imaging techniques including electrical impedance tomography and ultrasound to enhance lung-protective ventilation with the goal of developing personalized mechanical ventilation techniques to reduce late pulmonary morbidity.

Additionally, he is interested in understanding and eventually reducing disparities in morbidity outcomes for critically ill children.
