Bio
Amy Schwarzhoff, MS, MBA, CIP, is the senior director of Human Subjects Research for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She joined CHOP in 2009 and provides leadership for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Office and Committees. Schwarzhoff led the initial and re-accreditation of CHOP’s Human Research Protections Program (HRPP) program. She also directed the improvements to the electronic IRB system to enhance efficiencies, improve regulatory documentation, and support investigator communications.
Before joining CHOP, she was at Advarra (formerly Chesapeake Research Review), an independent central IRB, where she directed consulting services and IRB operations. Schwarzhoff has also held leadership roles with the National Cancer Institute’s Adult and Pediatric Central IRBs. She is a Certified IRB Professional and has been a site visitor for The Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs Inc.
- While consulting with IRBs throughout the country, Schwarzhoff has identified processes to ensure regulatory compliance, efficient processes, and the need for good relationships with the investigator community.
- Schwarzhoff is an expert on the implementation of Federal regulations and HRPP accreditation standards and had led the successful accreditation for organizations she has worked for and consulted with.
