Pediatric IDEAS

The Pediatric Infectious Disease Epidemiology & Antimicrobial Stewardship (IDEAS) research group is a collaborative group of investigators whose mission is to perform rigorous clinical and translational research that generates evidence on the prevention and treatment of infections to inform best practices and improve the health of children, families, and communities.

Pediatric Sepsis Program

The Pediatric Sepsis Program will lead the international medical and scientific communities to determine what causes sepsis, the best methods for early detection and resuscitation, therapies to successfully reverse the effects of sepsis, and appropriate long-term follow-up for infants, children, and adolescents.

Center for Microbial Medicine

The Center for Microbial Medicine at CHOP is dedicated to finding cures and improving pediatric health through the lens of the microbiome. Our transformative vision enables researchers and clinicians to leverage the microbiome to improve children's health by moving discoveries quickly from bench to bedside.

CHOP Microbiome Center

The CHOP Microbiome Center is the sequencing and analytical resource of the PennCHOP Microbiome Program, providing end-to-end solutions for microbiome research.

Related Research at Penn

Our team enjoys collegial relationships with the investigators and faculty of these related initiatives at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and Penn School of Veterinary Medicine.

Penn Center for Research on Coronavirus and Other Emerging Pathogens

Penn Center for AIDS Research

Institute for Immunology and Immune Health

Institute for Infectious and Zoonotic Diseases

The Wister Institute Vaccine and Immunotherapy Center

CHOP/Penn Perinatal Infectious Diseases

The CHOP/Penn Perinatal Infectious Diseases research group is a unique collaboration of investigators who perform important clinical research on perinatal infectious diseases, including infection transmission and prevention, antibiotic stewardship and resistance, seroepidemiology, the developing microbiome, and more.

Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit

Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Units (VTEUs) play a key role in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases' efforts to develop new and improved vaccines and therapies against infectious diseases. They have conducted hundreds of clinical trials, many of which have contributed to vaccine licensure. VTEUs have a rapid-response capability that is especially important for testing vaccines to counteract emerging public health concerns.

Global Health Research Affinity Group

The Global Health Research Affinity Group provides a formal structure to unite CHOP-based researchers who are conducting or interested in conducting global health research. This group fosters efforts to expand and support pediatric research collaboration between investigators working in resource-limited settings worldwide.

Protective Immunity and Immunopathology Affinity Group

The Protective Immunity and Immunopathology Affinity Group helps to build connections between investigators as they collaborate in their research endeavors and apply their shared knowledge towards a better understanding of the immune system and its powers to protect and heal.

Vaccine Education Center

The Vaccine Education Center at CHOP provides complete, up-to-date and reliable information about vaccines to parents and healthcare professionals. The Center is a member of the World Health Organization's Vaccine Safety Net as defined by the Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety.
