Grant Proposal Success Workshops
GPS runs several grant writing workshops. At CHOP, our team organizes an annual four-part series with a cohort of approximately 20 participants. Researchers cover a range of topics including basic science, behavioral science, clinical science, and translational science.
The GPS workshop-based training program is tailored to trainees (fellows & postdocs) applying for individual Fellowships (F-series), Career Development Awards (K-series), or equivalent foundation awards. This is best for trainees ready to write their proposals. Our interactive format fosters an engaging learning environment.
To secure a spot in this competitive four-part training program, pay close attention to announcements of our annual application disseminated through email blasts, electronic signage and other CHOP communications.
Applications open January of each year and cohort decisions are made by early February.
The workshop offers comprehensive guidance on developing key components, including:
- Specific Aims
- Biosketch
- Career Development Plan
- Research Strategy
We also offer training in eSPA and proposal submission. Emphasizing rigorous proposal review, participants engage in monthly drafts with their mentors, receive constructive feedback from our expert faculty facilitator, and engage in peer-to-peer reviews between sessions. The culmination of the series involves the submission of a proposal, complemented by a mock study section designed to mirror an NIH Review Panel. This finale includes an informal, discussion-based review of each proposal, ensuring participants leave equipped with invaluable insights and a refined project proposal.
