This session focuses on skills and techniques to effectively convey your research ideas to various stakeholder audiences. Participants will learn research-based, persuasive techniques for clearly and confidently communicating their ideas.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Distill their research ideas for clarity
  • Develop and deliver compelling research presentations to various audiences
  • Increase their confidence when speaking/presenting to a group .

Registration

Space is limited to 15 postdoctoral fellows and 15 faculty members. Registration is required.

About the Speakers

Antionnette McDermott, MBA, is the Director of the Wharton Graduate Communication Program, where she leads the design and delivery of persuasive business communication courses for MBA and Executive MBA students. A recipient of Wharton's Teaching Excellence Award, McDermott is a passionate lecturer with experience teaching undergraduate, MBA, and executive audiences.

In partnership with Wharton's Aresty Institute of Executive Education, McDermott has facilitated programs for corporate, government, and non-profit executives such as ABB, Alfa, AXA Equitable, Hai Nan Airlines, Hilliard Lyons, and the World Economic Forum. Before joining Wharton, she enjoyed a successful career designing and marketing wireless technologies for AT&T Microelectronics/Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and Agere Systems. Notably, she served as a board member of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, a consortium pivotal in the design and promotion of Bluetooth wireless technology.

Nathinee Chen leads the Wharton Communication Program's entrepreneurial courses for MBA startup founders and the program's PhD coaching and workshop offerings. She also leads the program's collaboration with external partners and co-chairs the WHCP Fellows Program. She has delivered workshops for the McNulty Leadership Program, Penn Carey Law School, the Mack Institute's Commercialization Workshop series, as well as community nonprofits in partnership with McNulty.
