Join us for an in-person inaugural conference related to the humanities:

Finding Our Voices: Humanities in Medicine

This conference will bring together a community of those who work in healthcare to build connection through poetry, literature and art. Participants will learn to use narrative skills, listening and observation to give voice to their experiences and explore meaning in their work.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the participants should be able to:

  1. Use narrative skills to voice personal and professional experiences in healthcare.
  2. Develop listening and observation skills to improve delivery of humanistic healthcare.
  3. Use literature, poetry, and art to find meaning, joy, and connection in their professional lives.

Registration is required. Space is limited to the first 100 participants. Fees are $100 for healthcare professionals, $50 for trainees and students, and include continental breakfast, lunch, program materials, and parking. All healthcare professionals, trainees, and medical students are encouraged to attend.

The conference is accredited for 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 credits for physicians and 4.5 CE for social workers.

A non-competitive Story Slam will be held at the end of the conference. We invite submissions of a story related to your work or experience in healthcare. You can also nominate a colleague as a storyteller. Stories should be told in five minutes and should respect patient privacy and confidentiality.
