Aggregation of Medication Refill Data to Assess Adherence

Objectives

  1. Discuss the utility of refill data as a proxy for medication adherence, and describe the internal and external sources of these data at CHOP.
  2. Review two case studies of adherence analysis in rheumatology (JIA) and asthma patient populations.
  3. Consider limitations of the current refill data ecosystem and future possible use cases.

About Dr. David Anderson

Dr. Anderson is a 4th year fellow in a combined pediatric hematology/oncology and clinical informatics fellowship at CHOP. He is interested in operational informatics, electronic health record implementation, and quality improvement, and is pursuing a career that integrates informatics and clinical oncology. His fellowship work has been presented at ACR, AMIA CIC, ASPHO, PAS, and Tandem, and published in TCT.
