The Center for Autism Research and the PASSAGE Program are presenting a workshop for autistic individuals and their families, focused on providing an overview of some of the factors to consider when transitioning into the adult world. Caregivers and professionals are also welcome to attend.
About the Workshop
The transition from adolescence into adulthood can be an exciting yet daunting time for autistic young adults and their families. Preparing for adulthood may involve entering a new environment, graduating from school, handling different social situations and responsibilities, and accepting changes in a comfortable routine.
There are decisions and logistical planning that affect every aspect of life, including healthcare, domestic life, finances, relationships, education, employment, or alternative roles in the community.
The workshop will have two tracks:
- One for family members and providers.
- One for autistic young adults.
Young adults will participate in small-group discussions related to navigating adulthood and what this means.
Registration and Cost
Registration is required for this workshop.
Cost for parents, caregivers, and teen/young adults: $10
Family of three (3) or more people: $25
Parking passes are available to purchase in advance for $5.
Requests for language interpreters or other accommodation services must be received three (3) weeks in advance of the workshop.
