At CHOP Research, we believe in building an inclusive, representative, and welcoming scientific community. Diversity in research allows us to care for patients of all backgrounds and orientations, identify the public health and policy needs of all minorities, and conduct science that improves as many lives as possible. While there is a lack of concrete data on individuals in STEM who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit, and other gender minorities (LGBTQIA2S+), reports suggest this important segment of our population is underrepresented in STEM fields. Meet three CHOP scientists nominated by our Centers of Emphasis to share their advice and amplify the visibility and voices of LGBTQIA2S+ scientists.
