Philadelphia Autism Centers for Excellence
In Philadelphia, Community Behavioral Health (CBH), the Behavioral Health Managed Care Organization/Insurance organization is a primary funder for a continuum of Autism-Focused Behavioral Health Services, for children, up to age 21, who live in the city and have Medical Assistance. CBH has designated certain providers as "Autism Centers for Excellence" based on their knowledge and expertise in both the diagnosis of Autism and the use of evidence informed behavioral health treatment services for children and adolescents on the autism spectrum and their families. These services include:
- Comprehensive assessment
- Functional behavior assessments (FBAs)
- Behavioral health rehabilitation services (BHRS)
- Social skills groups (SSG)
- Blended case management (BCM)
- Summer therapeutic activities programs (STAP)
- Therapeutic afterschool programs (ASP)
- Individual and family outpatient counseling/treatment
- Psychiatric medication management
- Parent support and education groups
- Family-based services (NET and CGRC)
The Centers designated as Autism Centers for Excellence within Philadelphia County are:
- Special People in Northeast (SPIN)
- Northeast Treatment Centers (NET)
- Child Guidance Resource Centers (CGRC)
The two organizations work in full partnership with one another to meet the needs of families throughout the city of Philadelphia who are concerned that their child is showing signs of ASD or in cases where a diagnosis has been made, to identify the necessary services and supports that will assist families to promote skill development and symptom reduction for their children on the autism spectrum.
