The Center for Childhood Cancer Research (CCCR) Biorepository and Registry collects and stores a variety of human samples to aid researchers in finding causes of and innovative treatments for pediatric cancers and related conditions. As one of the few existing repositories focused on the collection of pediatric tumor tissues, the CCCR Biorepository and Registry plays a critical role in advancing scientific research and personalized medicine at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Our team maintains our robust specimen collection and works to:

  • Connect investigators to a database of critical research data, including genetic information
  • Promote more efficient use of human specimens
  • Enable streamlined research processes

Researchers may request specimens maintained in the CCCR biobank for use in future studies. An experienced scientific committee composed of leading oncologic investigators review requests and help researchers create compelling scientific questions and procedures.

Investigators often face significant temporal barriers in acquiring enough of a target specimen for their research, due to the relative rarity of childhood tumors and the diversity of tumor types. The CCCR Biorepository and Registry significantly reduces this barrier by providing researchers access to a multitude of already characterized specimens centralized in CHOP.
