The Center for Mitochondrial and Epigenomic Medicine will be awarding four research Grants of $25,000 each for the period of February 1 to June 25, 2021.

Innovative proposals are solicited in the areas of mitochondrial and epigenomic medicine.

Faculty and research scientists at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania are eligible to apply.

There will be two review committees, each awarding two grants. One will emphasize mitochondrial medicine with a more clinical orientation. This committee will be chaired by Dr. Marni Falk. The second committee will emphasize mitochondrial and epigenomic medicine with a more basic science perspective. This committee will be chaired by Dr. Liming Pei.

How to Apply

Application deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday January 22th, 2021. Notification of awards will be made by the end of January. All funds must be utilized by June 25, 2021 or be returned to CMEM.

The application narrative must be no longer than 2 pages, not including references or budget.

The following outline should be used:

  1. Title
  2. Applicant(s) name, title, affiliation, and contact information (phone and email)
  3. Specific Aims
  4. Background
  5. Proposed research for addressing each specific aim (at least 1 page)
  6. Requested budget, including description of how funds would be utilized (separate page)
  7. A final progress report will be required by August 6, 2021

*CMEM should be acknowledged in any publications resulting from awarded projects.
