Postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and staff in all fields of research at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with an interest in intellectual property management and commercialization are invited to apply for the Office of Technology Transfer  (OTT) FY25-26 Internship Program.

Program participants will work under an apprenticeship-style model to explore alternative career paths for research scientists and gain hands-on experience in the fundamentals of developing intellectual property assets and translating academic discoveries from bench to bedside.

Eligibility: Current CHOP postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and research staff who have a bachelor’s degree or above in a science discipline.

The project-based internship includes:

  • Assessment of CHOP inventions for their commercial potential and feasibility of intellectual property protection (e.g., patent, copyrights)
  • Drafting non-confidential technology summaries that will be used to market CHOP intellectual properties to potential commercial partners.

** Applications open Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, and will remain open until available internship roles are filled but not extend past April 1, 2025.

Submit application materials via email to Cassie Tran, Senior Licensing Associate, and Hyeon Kim, OTT Assistant Director.

Required application materials:

In addition to these  materials, a letter of understanding for participation provided by OTT and signed by the applicant’s academic advisor or direct supervisor will be required prior to the interview.

Interviews begin February 2025; selected applicants will be notified by end of April 2025.
