Interconnected Faculty Families

While CHOP and Penn are independent entities, they foster a collegial atmosphere to facilitate academic exchange. Most CHOP Research investigators are members of the Penn faculty (CHOP-based Penn faculty members), and they follow both institutions’ policies and oversight. The Research Institute’s Core Facilities increase the efficiency, speed, and cost-effectiveness of research, and many of their services are available to Penn’s scientific community. CHOP-based researchers can apply for access to select Penn-based services, such as the library system. CHOP and Penn also jointly host several multidisciplinary educational and professional development opportunities.

Leveraging the infrastructure, expertise, and synergy between CHOP and Penn propels scientific understanding along the fetal to adult continuum. Major collaborative programs include the Roberts Collaborative for Genetics and Individualized Medicine, the Penn-CHOP Lifespan Brain Institute, the Penn-CHOP Microbiome Program, and the Penn Orphan Disease Center.
