The Division of Technology Commercialization (DTC) identifies novel research discoveries that may be developed into commercial products; protects discoveries through the patenting process; and works with inventors and commercial partners to introduce discoveries to the marketplace, which includes facilitating the licensing of software.
The DTC strategically markets the Hospital's intellectual property portfolio, including patented materials, nonpatented research materials and software. In addition, the DTC works with inventors to identify key companies for further development of a technology or group of technologies. Companies have the opportunity to support additional research and development or to license technologies on an exclusive or nonexclusive basis. The DTC negotiates all option and license agreements in an attempt to introduce a technology into the marketplace as quickly as possible.
