Hospital Recruits New Technology Transfer Director

Children's Hospital recently recruited a new director for the Office of Technology Transfer to lead the institution's intellectual property and commercialization efforts.

Joseph J. DiDonato, J.D., came to the Hospital June 19 from Rutgers University, where he served as a lawyer in the university's Office of Corporate Liaison and as associate director of intellectual property. In these roles, he negotiated and prepared agreements for the transfer of intellectual property, including licenses and various agreements. His responsibilities also included developing an intellectual property strategy for Rutgers, coordinating and supervising patent prosecution, and evaluating issues concerning the commercialization of intellectual property.

To complement and extend his background in intellectual property, Joseph continues to pursue training and education in the sciences and is nearing completion of a master's degree in biotechnology/molecular biology at Rutgers.

At Children's Hospital, Joseph will lead the Hospital's intellectual property management and commercialization efforts. His responsibilities include management of our entire technology portfolio from early stage disclosures to late stage licensure and commercialization.
