The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is a leader in the advancement of laboratory and patient-oriented research dedicated to improving the health of children and their families worldwide. It is home to one of the nation's largest pediatric research programs, spanning virtually every area of pediatric medicine.
All research activities at the hospital are conducted under the auspices of the The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute, which is administratively housed in the 440,000 sq ft. Leonard and Madlyn Abramson Pediatric Research Center on the campus of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The CHOP Research Institute now supports over 250 investigators and their staffs who are pursuing hundreds of active research projects at any given time. Children's Hospital ranks among the top two pediatric hospitals nationwide in National Institutes of Health funding.
The Johnson laboratory is located on the 12th floor of the Abramson Center and occupies approximately 3000 sq ft. Located within this state-of-the-art space are cell culture facilities and dedicated space for viral vector production.
