We've designed this newsletter to serve our research colleagues, industry partners, safety educators and advocates. In this issue, along with the latest news and research updates, we'll highlight the Center's workshops and presentations at the 2007 Lifesavers Conference, just days away.     Kristy Arbogast, Ph.D., Director of Field Engineering, The Center for Injury Research and Prevention discusses the most recent data on LATCH use patterns among parents.
Monday, 3/26
  • 8:15 – 9:15 AM-Plenary Talk: “The Role of Parents for Teens"
    Kenneth Ginsburg, M.D., Adolescent Medicine specialist at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia explores the role of the parent-teen relationship as it relates to the young driver experience.
  • 1:00- 2:30 PM- "How do we get more parents involved in teens' driving experience?"
    Flaura Winston, M.D., Ph.D., Principal Investigator for CHOP and State Farm Young Driver research, presents methods, results, and applications of Phase I of the partnership’s young driver research.
  • 1:00- 2:30 PM – Keeping score: How you know your program will make a difference
    Suzanne Hill, Director of Advocacy & Outreach for CHOP’s Center for Injury Research and Prevention, presents results from a study to determine effective booster seat messaging for at-risk parents.
  • 5:00- 7:00 PM– State Farm Welcome Reception: “From the car seat to the driver’s seat”
    We invite you to join us for a State Farm Teen Driving Reception in the Boulevard Room of the Hilton Hotel. Start your evening with appetizers and meet the 2006 Project Ignition Champions and other State Farm partners in the field of teen driving, along with representatives from CHOP and MADD. Help us address the number one killer of teens in the U.S.!

    Tracey Hewitt, M.S., C.H.E.S., Outreach and Advocacy Coordinator, discusses the role of law enforcement for increasing use of child restraints.
  • 10:15- 11:15 AM- Don't make back seat safety take a back seat
    Kristy Arbogast, Ph.D., Director of Field Engineering for PCPS, presents the latest PCPS data on rear seating for older children.

New Collection of Child Passenger Safety Illustrations!
Partners for Child Passenger Safety recently developed a series of 37 illustrations for educational use. These easy- to- follow line drawings are perfect for brochures, slides and handouts, and are available with captions in both English and Spanish.
