Write Winning R01 Grant Proposals

Friday, April 24, 2015
8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Abramson Research Center (ARC), Room 123-ABC
Lunch provided. $75 charge for individual workbook payable on day of seminar.

Guest speaker: John Robertson, PhD, Grant Writers' Seminars and Workshops, LLC

This one-day seminar received great reviews when it was recently offered by the Leonard Davis Institute at Penn. The Research Institute is bringing this extraordinary opportunity to CHOP on April 24. All faculty who write, or plan to write, R01 grant applications are invited.

The seminar provides participants with strategies and examples for writing each section of the R01 application. Participants are taught to develop an irresistible idea and write with a linear progression of logic that leads reviewers through their applications and tells a convincing story!

The CHOP Research Institute is funding the event, except the cost of your personal workbook ($75 each, payable by check or cash on the day of the program).

To help us plan, we encourage you to register for this event.

Planning for Sabbaticals

Thursday, May 7, 2015
4:30 to 5:30 pm
Clinical and Translational Research Center, 1100 A (first floor)
Coffee and light snacks provided

Guest speakers: Louis M. Bell, MD. Professor, Division of General Pediatrics, Meryl S. Cohen, MD. Associate Professor, Division of Cardiology, Victoria A. Mulhern, Executive Director, Faculty Affairs and Professional Development, Perelman School of Medicine, Rebecca A. Simmons, MD. Professor, Division of Neonatology

Ensuring a rewarding, productive sabbatical requires negotiation and planning - usually over the course of a year or more. Review Penn policies on eligibility for sabbaticals ("scholarly leaves"). Find out how colleagues maintained their regular monthly salary while on sabbatical, kept the momentum going in their research programs, ensured coverage of clinical responsibilities, and limited interruptions from "back home." Bring your questions for discussion!

To help us plan, we encourage you to register for this event.
