Program Overview

The program runs from June 1, 2015 until August 7, 2015. Interns will receive a $4,000 stipend. Allowances for travel and housing are not available.

Research Experience

  • CRISSP interns will train within a designated research laboratory or group for the duration of the 10 weeks
  • Positions in laboratory, clinical, behavioral, and translational research are available
  • Interns train full-time under the direct supervision of a mentor responsible for the lab or research group to learn research techniques and methodology
  • Interns complete one independent research project and present their project at a CRISSP commencement event
  • Interns have several clinical shadowing opportunities in the Hospital
  • Interns conduct at least three informational interviews for advice about graduate and medical school preparation

Professional Development

  • Social and educational programming with fellow students and researchers throughout CHOP
  • Weekly luncheons with all CRISSP interns and participating faculty
  • Participation in CRISSP Orientation and the Summer Scientific Research Colloquium
  • Completion of an Individual Development Plan to identify program goals
  • Formal training in:
    • Human subject protections
    • Care and use of animals in research
    • Laboratory safety
    • Responsible conduct of research
