Employee Orientation

We are so happy to welcome you to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. For the last 160 years, CHOP has had a profound impact on the lives of children and their families. This is a place where discoveries happen daily, more importantly, where those discoveries save the lives of our patients. We are excited to have you join us and we know that our Patients and Families will benefit from your skills, talents and dedication that you bring to your role.

We look forward to meeting you in person at New Employee Orientation held at the Roberts Center for Pediatric Research Building. The Roberts Center is located at 2716 South Street Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA 19146. Please arrive by 7:45 am for check in as we start promptly at 8:30 am. Please review the below information in order to prepare for your first day and feel free to contact us directly with any questions.

Commuting to New Employee Orientation

Public Transportation

The Roberts Center is conveniently located within walking distance of SEPTA’s Regional Rail lines (the University City station). There are also three Septa Bus Routes (40, 7 and 12) that stop at the Roberts Center. For more information, go to septa.org and select “Plan My Trip”.

Parking

After you arrive on the South street bridge make a right onto S 27th St. which then turns into Schuylkill Avenue.

*If coming from center city the surface lot is closes to Christian St. and Schuylkill Avenue.

Free Parking is available in the surface lot behind the building on Schuylkill Avenue. Parking Vouchers will be distributed.

Benefits Information

You will be able to sign up for benefits starting the Thursday following your Start Date, and to become effective 30 days from your Start Date.

Reminders

  1. Attached to your offer letter sent by your recruiter is a job aid that outlines the steps for claiming your CHOP Digital Identity. You should have received an email from identityadmin@chop.edu asking you to claim your CHOP Digital Identity.
  2. If you are returning to CHOP and are a former employee, student, co-op or extern, you will not receive this email as your identity information remains the same as when you were previously at CHOP. If you do not recall your username/password, etc. please contact the Help Desk at 215- 590- 4357. Please have this completed before your Start Date.
  3. If you are beginning a position in Nursing, Respiratory or Rehabilitation Services clinical position, please bring any documentation for submission.
  4. Have questions about where and when to report to work on day two? Please check your offer letter from your recruiter. This information can be found in the section entitled Start Date, New Employee Orientation and Department Information.

Learning

Now that you are a part of our organization, there are mandatory educational modules that we ask that you complete. These online learning modules support and promote our culture of safety. You may have received emails advising you that these modules from DoNotReply_myCareer @ CHOP.

Please Note: you will not be able to access these learning modules until you attend New Employee Orientation.
